CodeREDTM Registration
- WHO SHOULD REGISTER?
-
Residents whose phone numbers are in the white pages of the telephone directory are automatically included in the database to receive CodeREDTM messages. However, businesses and residents with non-listed numbers must register if they wish to receive the CodeREDTM emergency notifications. This is a commercial product, and it is NOT connected to the State's 9-1-1 system. Residents should register if they:
- Want their cell phones listed
- Want to provide a work phone as back-up to their home phone
- Want to provide a caregiver back-up number
- Recently moved and kept their old phone number
- Have changed their phone number in the past six months
- Use a TDD/TTY
NOTE: We encourage residents to offer assistance with the registration process to friends, neighbors or relatives who are not 'internet savvy' . Plainfield residents only, please.
- HOW DO I REGISTER TO RECEIVE CodeREDTM EMERGENCY ALERTS?
The following information is required to add a telephone number to the CodeREDTM database: first and last name; address (physical address, no P.O. boxes); city, state, zip code; and primary phone number (usually the home phone). An alternate phone number, such as a cellular phone, may also be entered; both the primary and alternate numbers will be contacted in the event of an emergency. All phones (home, cell, or work) must be associated with a Town of Plainfield address. When entering information, please fill out all of the screens because the newest data will replace the old data.

For those who are hearing impaired, the sign-up form offers a TDD ONLY option for tone delivery of emergency messages. Messages delivered to phone numbers marked TDD will only be delivered in a TDD/TTY format.
Residents without internet access may visit the Philip Read Memorial Library, the Meriden Library or the Town Office to use a computer to register.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
CodeREDTM delivers an important message through a high-speed telephone calling system to selected phone numbers in its database. The system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the Town in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action such as an evacuation, contaminated water, hazardous chemical spill, missing person, power lines down, etc. This system is capable of dialing the entire Town within minutes. It then delivers a pre-recorded message (either to a live person or an answering machine) describing the situation in the affected area, possibly including instructions requiring immediate action on the part of the recipient
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I RECEIVE A CodeREDTM MESSAGE?
- Listen Carefully
- Follow Instructions
- Don't hang up until you hear the entire message. The message will not be repeated.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I DO NOT RECEIVE A CodeREDTM MESSAGE?
- Your area of the community may not be affected; in which case, you will not receive a call even if the incident is only a short distance away. However, if you don't receive a call which you feel you should have received, contact the Town Office at 603-469-3201 so we can check out the situation.
The CodeREDTM Emergency Alert system is now available to Plainfield residents. This service is provided to us through the Grafton County Sheriff's Office and the Hanover Dispatch Center. It allows the Town to notify residents of an emergency situation quickly and easily.
