July 4th Parade Committee
This committee works tirelessly each June to pull together the annual 4th of July parade and celebration. Plainfield’s July 4th parade is well known throughout the Upper Valley as the best old-fashioned, small-town parade around, and it brings hundreds of visitors to our community.

38TH Annual Plainfield Parade
ACTIVITIES OF THE DAY
All are welcome!
- An exhibit about the Meriden Players at the Historical Society.
- Annual Art Show, including a special exhibit titled Faces of Plainfield, at the Town Hall. Artists from Plainfield and Cornish will exhibit their paintings and other art work. Photographic portraits by Chad Finer, of Norwich, of people who’ve been interviewed for the oral history project will also be exhibited. 9 am-3 pm.
- Pancake Breakfast: Plainfield Community Baptist Church 7:30-9 AM
- Blow-Me-Down Grange will be holding a HUGE YARD SALE plus THE ATTIC SHOP will be open. Available Food: Breakfast-Coffee and Donuts, Lunch-Corn on the Cob, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Sausages, Assorted Desserts, Hot and Cold Beverages.
- Fireman’s Barbecue: By Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department Under the big tent on the Auction Gallery Property with Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers and Hot Dogs, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Chips and Beverages. Serving will begin immediately following the parade until sold out.
- Strawberry Shortcake: Plainfield Community Church next to Fireman’s Barbecue under the tent available after the parade.
- Annual Silent Cake Auction: Historical Society building, Townspeople have baked cakes to be auctioned off. Participants Cakes should be delivered before 10 AM and the Auction ends at 12-12:30PM
- Philip Read Memorial Library will be open during 4th of July activities with water available and bathrooms.
- North Country Chordsmen will be singing on the steps of the town hall prior to the parade
- Oxford & Clark: Music for young and old under the tent following the parade
